The Sky is falling on indie film

For the movie buffs - At my friend Hayley's wedding, I sat next to a man called Mark Gill. Mark had just made a key note speech at a film industry conference about the future of independent films that caused a real stir in the industry. Essentially, the speech was about the number of crap movies that are made in America. Attached is a link to the latimes blog regarding Mark's speech, if you are interested.

Mark has set up a production company to make indie movies called The Film Department. They are currently making a film about the life of F.Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, starring Kiera Knightly and directed by the guy who directed The Painted Veil. They have not decided on a leading man yet (or hadn't as at 30 November). I suggested the lead in Little Children because I think that he is GORGEOUS! Mark's wife Hanna (Yale graduate) wrote the screen play, which would have to be my fantasy job.

Mark and Hanna have a french mastiff and an apartment in Paris (St Germain). However, they still have to endure Hollywood for most of the year, I suppose!

The Thoughtful Dresser

The Thoughtful Dresser must be a serious website - if the amount of advertising is any indication! I have added the Thoughtful Dresser blog as a LINK - so it is easy for the BTeamsters to find. Imagine having a life so interesting that other people want to read about it?! Anyway, this is a picture of my "Mexico". If you have looked at the Thoughtful Dresser's blog then you will know what I mean. In these tough financial times, I might also remind Rusty of one of Linda Grant's favourite quotes - 'The only thing worse than being skint is looking as if you're skint' and cross fingers for a nice Christmas present. Love Donna.

The Thoughtful Dresser by Linda Grant

Had a spy yesterday and not sure if I want to write on a blog as I am doing now. I read other peoples' blogs am far happier being a voyeur than a writer. Also I predict that 3 of our B team members will find this intimidating for about the next 2 years. So will need help being up to blog n....... FB speed. I can empathasise as I was never going to text either......Never say never.

Please read The Thoughtful Dresser, google these 3 words, blog written by Linda Grant who wrote the short listed Booker book, The Clothes on their Backs. I think both blog n book are brilliant and the comments her followers write are also insightful and witty. Linda is on holiday in Mexico at present, so you'll have time to go back n read her old posts before she starts writing again in the new year. Denise.... Have just worked out I need to sign off, so we know who writes what, so had to go into edit.
I have had fun fixing up our blog so that it is a bit more personalised. Won't Paula get a surprise when she gets back from her big holiday?! Please add some of your favourite links, summer reading recommendations.....etc. This is our blog - so lets have some fun with it!! love, Donna.

Archives

Janet - this blog is for you!
Now that we have our very own BLOG, I think that you should post the archives to this site. In particular, we should list the books that we have read (not necessarily who hosted the books, the dates etc....just the list of books).
Also, on our blog, we could also post reading lists.....just an idea.
